Internship
CENTER OF EXCELLENCE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The FCIT internship program has served over 50 students from 10 local colleges and universities since it began in 2018. Interns have the opportunity for paid internship with various departments within FCIT including, Data Analytics, Digital Business, ERP Automation, Network Access Control, and more.
Interns assist with various assignments and projects such as:
- Website redesign and daily maintenance
- Updating website content
- Producing fillable PDFs and web forms
- Collecting and analyzing metrics on intern and capstone program growth
- Upgrading PCs throughout the county
FCIT interns had a total of eight projects either completed or in-progress in 2019:
- Site-wide refresh of fultoncountyga.gov launched in October 2019
- Nearing deployment on customer service kiosks and collaborative iPads for the paperless initiative
- Development for the Courthouse Case Management automation
- Qualtrics licensing
- Solarwinds dashboard and server upgrade

Internship are compensation-based positions offered through Fulton County for current and graduating students to work and learn within Fulton County IT Departments.
A major difference is Capstone programs are unpaid (and offered through universities) and Internship programs are paid positions (offered through Fulton County).

Capstone programs are semester-long programs offered throughout the Spring, Summer, and Winter semester through participating universities.
Internship openings can fluctuate depending on the number of openings and the need of each IT Department project.
Internship minimum qualifications are to current or graduating students who have a demonstrated ability and want to thrive in an excellent learning professional environment. Standard employment verification including background checks can apply.
Capstone Programs require students enrolling in the Capstone program offered through their university institution.
Current or graduating students who can work up to 29 hours/week and have a demonstrated ability and want to thrive in an excellent learning professional environment.
